The Invisible Struggles Of Motherhood

Motherhood is often referred to as a magical time of nurturing and loving. It is nothing short of miraculous, and everyone should be lucky to experience motherhood. This is what the common notion is. But there is another side to this beautiful experience — the evil side. When I say evil, I don’t mean the bad side, but it’s the difficult and unpleasant aspects of motherhood. The one that no one talks about. But today, I have decided to talk about the struggles every mother endures. Without letting anyone know. Because they are superheroes who do not wear capes, and I’ve only realized this recently.

Motherhood is a dichotomy of extremes. The lack of sleep, the everyday exhaustion, and the unappreciative nature of motherhood is balanced by the overwhelming love they receive from their children and the joy of creating a life. That’s what I’ve heard from my mother. But is it really a balance? I have not experienced motherhood myself, but as a woman who is mature enough to understand the struggles of other women, I have reached a point in my life where I pay attention to my mother and her struggles. So I sat down and spoke to her one day about what makes motherhood so great. I requested her to be honest about it, and everything she told me made me realize how awesome mothers genuinely are.

Right from the time she learns that she will be a mother, her priority changes. It’s no longer what she wants and needs; it’s about her children. She gives up her dreams and creates new dreams — one where her children are the center of her world. For the rest of her life, she dedicates her love, care, attention, and happiness to her children, which is nothing short of the ultimate sacrifice.

Motherhood does not end when a woman delivers her baby. It’s just the beginning. A mother is responsible for raising a baby, which is not easy. Inculcating values, developing a moral compass, and showing her children the right way is something that mothers do. In this journey of motherhood, there is so much struggle, exhaustion, disappointment, and hard work that goes unnoticed. But mothers do not worry about it. They continue to be blessings and carry out their role with grace.

Just like mother nature provides endlessly irrespective of what she receives in return, our mothers adopt the same. It is often said that a mother’s job is a thankless one. Why? Because she is the glue that holds the family together, and she makes sacrifices as big as mountains but does not talk about them. A mother cooks, cleans, and showers you with love every day without expecting anything in return, yet we fail to appreciate them.

作为一个母亲是blessing in itself, no doubt. The joy and miracle of creating life lie with her, and that is something extraordinary. But we fail to realize that mothers are a blessing in our lives. She nurtures and protects you in her womb for nine months before bringing you out into the world. Once you’re born, she prepares you for the real world and protects you until she can.

What about her wishes, struggles, pain, and happiness? How do we forget to appreciate such a wonderful blessing in our life who always puts her children first? It’s time we start recognizing everything our mothers do for us. Sure, they have flaws. But aren’t they allowed to? Mothers are human too, but we tend to forget that we are accustomed to seeing them in a heroic role.

It’s time we pay attention to their needs and happiness. It’s time we value our mothers because they are the biggest blessing in our lives. So, hug your mom and tell her you love her, give her a call and tell her you miss her, and for those of you whose mothers are not with you, don’t worry. We know it’s tough, but wherever she is, she only wishes the best for you. A big thank you to all you mothers for being who you are!
