Tuning In On Self Care
Most parents who are focused on their career growth and family life often end up neglecting their health. Result: despite working so hard, they’re unable to fully enjoy the chosen life due to an unhealthy lifestyle. We believe, such parents will (or should) start tuning in on a little bit of self-care and self-love. Balancing your career and family while also remaining fit as a fiddle will be the most happening trend for parents this year!
Gender-Neutrality Is The Way To Go
现在的父母更好地符合张ing times than, let’s say, their predecessors. Gender equality and pay parity have already become a social cause. And a good step in that direction would be to mold children in a gender-neutral way. Parents in 2020 would most likely do away with gender stereotypes like pinks for girls and blue for boys what with even toys turning gender-neutral in a big way.
Break From Social Media
While social media has its own merits, we cannot neglect the fact that it has led to some serious problems too. A lot of mums are believed to have suffered from personality disorders or serious lack of self-esteem while trying to compete with other, well-off moms on social media. But, with another set of people on social media creating a trend of ‘social media breaks’, it comes as a welcome breather for social-media-addicted parents. This is one ‘only-iron-can-cut-iron’ scenario which we are happy to see work.
Focusing On Mental Health
From hiding mental health issues to speaking up about it, we all have come a long way in accepting mental health issues as normal. So, what does it mean for parents now? To start identifying and keenly observing behavior change patterns in their children and addressing them the right way. Parents in 2020 will not only ensure a healthy lifestyle for their children but will also strive for their child’s healthy mind.
Accepting Postpartum Body The Way It Is
The initial days of body-shaming on social media finally gave rise to a slew of body-positivity trends slamming right back at it. And one welcome extension of this healthy trend is accepting the postpartum body as a normal way of life. In a way, this trend could prove helpful for all those new moms who might be at the receiving end of postpartum depression.
Being Responsible For The Environment
It might sound like a fad, but environmental awareness is a serious issue. Of course, not every parent can turn their child into Greta Thunberg overnight (while we do wish we can). But new-age parents would like to leave behind a healthy environment for their children. And one of the best ways to do it is by setting an example themselves. Parenting in 2020 will most likely involve parents who are ready to reduce their carbon footprint or at least minimize the wastage and excesses of their lifestyle. This way, they’ll set a good example for their children to follow.
We sincerely hope that these trending changes in parenting style continue for a long time. Even better, give rise to more healthier parenting trends. With changes as good as this, the future of our children does look bright, doesn’t it?
