Being a mother might have got you some perks at your office like flexible office hours or work at home arrangements. But try to stick to your normal hours and finish your work commitments within the deadline. You certainly don’t want to carry the burden of the previous day’s work to the next day. Before committing to a new role or a project, talk to your boss about their expectations from you, like if you are going to have to pour in more work hours and dedication. Knowing where to draw the line can give you little pockets of time to breathe and spend time with your family.

If you are not much of a routine person, this will take some getting used to. But once you figure everything out, I’m sure you will stick to it for life. If you are not a morning person, you can also do some chores the night before to get some extra sleep. Plan your day accordingly, set a time for brushing and washing your face, packing the snack and lunch boxes, waking up the kids, etc. You can even easily squeeze in some me-time for medication or yoga to start your day.

You can also divide the chores between your partner and your child if he/she is old enough. This way, you are not the one carrying all the load.

Ask them about their day and how things are going at school. Plan a movie night or a game night whenever you have some spare time. You can also read them their favorite stories before going to bed.

Believe me, it’s not as hard as you might think. We know how elusive “me-time” moments can be. Don’t feel rushed to do everything all at once. Give yourself a break. Take your time, and to help things work, have a planner to make a to-do list.
