It was the time when Pokemon cards were thriving, Beyblades were the cool toys, and our idea of the internet was limited to a search engine and email. Social media did not exist, and flaunting your life with friends on the web was an alien concept. But one thing that every 90s kid can relate to is having strict parents. 1. Fun Rhymes With One

Your parents were so worried about you having too much fun that you could not hang out with your friends for two consecutive days. This was the general rule, and if you asked them for permission to go out with your friends, they would reply by saying, “You went out yesterday! Stay home!”
2. Curfew Earlier Than Sunset

If you dreaded going to birthday parties because you were always the first to arrive at a party and the first ones to leave, don’t worry because you are not alone. Your parents’ idea of a party was a group of friends gathering to eat chips, play musical chairs, and get home before the clock strikes 6. Come on, parents, even Cinderella had a midnight curfew!
3. School Trips And Sleepovers Were Non-Existent

You know your parents were strict when they did not allow you to attend sleepovers at your friends’ house or school trips that your entire class and teachers went to. If by chance you got the permission for a sleepover, your mom would do a background check on your friends’ parents, house, dog, tree, and even the carpet. Well, you get the point.
4. Detective Parenting

You know exactly what we’re talking about if you had strict parents. The numbers of your friends, their parents, grandparents, house address, and other details are stored as data in your mom’s phone. They use this information to cross-check if you were studying at their homes. Where’s the trust, dear parents?
5. Spontaneity? Hell No!

If you’re not a spontaneous person as an adult, you probably have your parents to blame. There was no question of impromptu plans when it came to your parents. If you have plans to hang out with your friends, it must be made one month prior and pass the various levels of seeking permission.

Children like to experiment with their clothes, style, and hair. Your teenage years are when the experimentation is at its peak, but with strict parents, you had no say. Your parents have to approve of the clothes you are wearing, whether for a party, your birthday or even the dentist.

Every kid can relate to this. When you have to seek your parents’ permission for something, you first test the waters by running a mood check. It is the most critical aspect of getting that “yes” to your plan. You abort the mission if they are in a bad mood.
It’s not a joke when people say that strict parents raise the best liars. You do what you gotta do to live your childhood days. What other option did you have?
