8 Reasons It's Great To Have Your Kids Close In Age

Women are great at multitasking, whether they are working women or stay-at-home moms. We all remember how our mothers used to single-handedly juggle all their responsibilities, especially in the absence of technology. With the advent of home appliances and technology, regular housework has become comparatively simpler. With time on hands, women explore opportunities as working mothers and entrepreneurs while continuing to be homemakers.

在寻求实现应得的self-reliance and financial independence, most women have also chosen to wait a little longer before they have a baby. While having babies within a decent age gap has its own advantages; women who have babies a little later in life and wish to have more kids, tend to feel they do not have much time to maintain a longer age gap between two kids. Whichever way a woman chooses to have her children, there’s certainly not a right or wrong way towards motherhood. Let’s discuss some of the advantages for women who wish to have kids close in age:

1. Optimum Use Of Clothes

It’s not a secret that first-time parents love to splurge on their baby when it comes to baby stuff, especially clothes. But as the baby quickly grows out of those sizes, you wonder how long you’ll have to wait before you could reuse those tiny little clothes. Most baby clothes go out of use faster, especially the newborn to 6 months age group as babies crawl and learn to walk. You might as well retain those well-maintained clothes for your next offspring.

2. Play Partner

There comes a phase when parents are no longer able to keep up with the energy levels of a baby who’s just stepped into toddlerhood. This means it’s no more an eat-poop-sleep routine and requires a dedicated number of hours towards playtime. Having a sibling within a close age gap makes your babies perfect play partners. Of course, they may bicker a bit over their favorite toys, but will eventually learn to share.

3. Bedtime Buddies

Babies generally stick to a routine if they see the other one do so. It works more in a peer-pressure sort of way, but in a positive manner. Once either of your babies finds you put the other one to sleep at a specific time, he/she will automatically follow suit.

4. Better Bonding

When siblings do things together, they tend to understand each other’s moods and whims. After initial differences, they’ll start being accommodating towards each other. This will eventually lead to a strong bonding between both siblings.

5. Practice Makes Perfect

You’ve recently had a baby and having another one in close range means that some of your earlier experiences are still fresh in your mind. With these experiences, you’ll be better prepared for what’s coming the second time around with the baby.

6. Getting Back Into Shape

All the baby fat that’s piled on generally takes time to reduce and may require extra efforts from your end. Most times, mothers lose weight after the first pregnancy only to gain during the second. This routine may look tedious if you’ve had a longer gap between two pregnancies. Having babies in close range will help you take charge of your body sooner than later.

7. Sharing Is Caring

Sometimes older siblings find it difficult to accept the divided attention of their parents as they aren’t used to it for the longest time. Though it gets sorted over time, but not without an exasperating amount of parental involvement. However, when babies coexist with each other from an early age, they quickly warm up to the idea of a shared space.

8. Potty Training

As with everything else, the younger one ends up imitating the older sibling. So if your older one is already potty trained, chances are the younger one will catch up faster, with a little help from the sibling.

No matter how you’ve chosen to have your babies, remember that all your efforts will bear fruits when your little ones are one day completely self-reliant. Once you’ve taught them the most important lessons of life, they’ll be ready to fly from the nest and face the world.
